My Story
Hello all, I am Stephanie Reynoso, the founder and CEO of Playful Roots Studio. I grew up in the Wilmington area, which is why I hold this community near and dear to my heart. My goal in creating Playful Roots Studio was to bring play-based enrichment opportunities for the children in this community, which are often little to none.
I always hold the belief that if we say "children are our future," we must ensure that we are trusting our children enough so that they feel comfortable and confident enough to share their ideas with us.

Why Did I Want To Start These Play Sessions?
I have been an educator for preschool-age children for over three years, during which I have discovered the art of listening and guiding my way of curating activities by paying close attention to children’s actions and verbal cues. I was inspired to provide quality learning experiences for children in the Wilmington area where I hope to bring back the joy of letting children freely express themselves through process art experiences and other forms of play-based learning.

My Teaching Philosophy
-
I believe that children are capable and competent beings
-
I believe that by allowing children to guide their play we are allowing them to engage in new forms of learning as they are looking at the world through a new lens
-
What we see may be different than what they see
-
What they hear may be different than what we hear
-
How they interact with the materials may be different than what we had in mind
-
-
I act more as a companion of play rather than deciding what children should be learning and/or doing with the materials being provided to them.
